MS Beams are made from mild steel, which contains a low percentage of carbon (less than 0.25%), ensuring a balance of strength and flexibility. They are produced through a hot-rolling process, which shapes the steel into different beam profiles while maintaining uniformity and mechanical integrity. Their composition makes them easy to weld, cut, and shape according to structural requirements.
MS Beams come in various shapes and sizes, each serving different structural purposes:
I-Beams (ISMB – Indian Standard Medium Beams): Resemble the letter “I” and are used in heavy-load applications due to their high strength-to-weight ratio.
H-Beams (ISWB – Indian Standard Wide Flange Beams): Have wider flanges than I-beams, providing better load distribution and stability.
T-Beams: Feature a “T” shape, commonly used in flooring and bridge construction.
Universal Beams (UB): Also known as “W Beams” or “W Sections,” they provide excellent support in heavy structural applications.
Raw Material Selection: High-quality mild steel billets are chosen for production.
Heating: The billets are heated in a furnace to make them malleable.
Rolling Process: The steel is passed through a series of rolling mills to form the desired beam shape.
Cooling & Cutting: The beams are cooled and cut into standard or customized lengths.
Surface Treatment (Optional): Beams may undergo galvanization, painting, or coating to enhance corrosion resistance.
