MS Channels are primarily composed of mild steel, which contains a low percentage of carbon, allowing for easy welding, machining, and shaping. The hot-rolling process is used to manufacture these channels, ensuring uniformity in size and mechanical properties. Their composition provides a balance between strength and flexibility, making them suitable for load-bearing applications.
MS Channels are available in different types to suit various applications:
C Channels (ISMC – Indian Standard Medium Channel): These have uniform thickness and are commonly used in structural applications.
U Channels: Featuring a deeper web, U channels provide additional support in heavy-load conditions.
Parallel Flange Channels (PFC): Designed with parallel flanges for enhanced structural stability and easy fabrication.
Additionally, MS Channels can be galvanized or powder-coated to improve their resistance to corrosion, making them suitable for outdoor and marine environments.
Raw Material Selection: High-quality mild steel billets are chosen for production.
Heating: The billets are heated in a furnace to achieve the required malleability.
Rolling Process: The heated steel is passed through rolling mills to form the desired C or U shape.
Cooling & Cutting: The channels are cooled and cut into standard or customized lengths.
Surface Treatment (Optional): Channels may be galvanized or coated to enhance durability and corrosion resistance.
