MS Steel

Mild Steel (MS) is a widely used material in various industries due to its unique combination of strength, affordability, and ease of use. It is a type of low-carbon steel, typically containing 0.05% to 0.25% carbon, which makes it softer, more ductile, and highly machinable compared to high-carbon steels. This characteristic allows MS steel to be easily cut, shaped, welded, and formed into various structures and components.

It is extensively used in construction, manufacturing, and industrial applications, including the production of pipelines, reinforcement bars, machinery, and automotive components. Despite being prone to rust, MS steel can be coated with protective layers such as paint, galvanization, or other corrosion-resistant treatments to enhance its lifespan.

Composition of MS Steel

Mild steel primarily consists of iron and carbon, with small amounts of other elements like manganese, silicon, and sulfur. The low carbon content makes it more malleable and easier to work with, but it does not have high hardness or wear resistance like high-carbon or alloy steels.
